The weekly #upeiphoto contest returns!

At the beginning of last semester, we started a weekly photo contest. As you may recall, students were encouraged to send in photos on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram (all tagged with #upeiphoto), and a special guest judge would choose their favourite and award the winner with a big, juicy prize.

Well, we enjoyed it, and so did you. This is why we’re bringing it back.

This week, our theme is Winter. Snap a pic, post it online, tag it with #upeiphoto, and you could win a clothing item of your choice from the UPEI Bookstore! Who among us couldn’t have used a nice warm hoodie last week?

As always, our guest judge will select a winning photo at the end of the week.

Have fun!

Last week’s #upeiphoto contest winners.

Huge thanks to everyone who submitted photos last week! It was one of our most entered contests ever (maybe our MOST entered contest, but verifying that would mean we’d have to go back and count the other entries, and we just don’t got time for that right now).

And the winners are:

- submitted by @AmirHoshyar

- submitted by @fallconpunch

- submitted by kaylafalls

These three fine individuals each receive a $50 giftcard from the UPEI Bookstore! Jealous? You should be.

These three photos were selected by three members of the Communications team in Integrated Communications: Rebecca Gass (Events and Protocol Officer), Sheila Kerry (Media Relations and Communications Officer), and Nicole Philips (Manager, Marketing and Communications).

Fall, y’all: this week’s #upeiphoto contest.

UPEI is always a lovely place to spend your time, but the campus is especially beautiful this time of year. We’ve been seeing a lot of pictures of the red, orange, and yellow quad coming across Twitter lately, so it only seems fitting that we start giving some of those photographers some prizes.

Therefore, this week’s #upeiphoto contest theme is FALL, Y’ALL. Capture the UPEI campus in all its autumn glory, and you could be a winner!

This time, we’re giving away three (count ‘em, THREE) $50 UPEI gift cards!

Congratulations to Emily for winning last week’s photo contest! Her photo was chosen by Treena Smith, the manager of Webster Academic Services. Treena had this to say about Emily’s photo:

I chose this photo as I believe students need to study in a multitude of different spaces and I believe the library needs to be a part of that regiment. Part of this photo, I believe, is at the library in the stacks and at a table in the library - the other component is that the student also shows a space at “home”, I assume. Like it.

Emily’s mad photo skills have just won her a $50 gift card to the UPEI Bookstore!
Stay tuned for details on this week’s photo contest.

Where do you study? #upeiphoto

We took a break from the photo contest last week, but boy oh boy are we back at it now.

And so are you, likely. Back at writing papers, finishing assignments, and studying for midterms. SO, we want to see where you do your work. This week’s theme is STUDY NOOK!

Show us where you (figuratively) hit the books, and you could win a $50 gift certificate to the UPEI Bookstore to get yourself some fly study gear. How many highlighters can one buy with fifty dollars? YOU TELL US.

As always, tag your photo with #upeiphoto to be entered. Post it on Instagram, Twitter, or on our Facebook page.

Congrats to Leann Handrahan for winning last week’s #upeiphoto contest!
Leann’s photo was chosen as winner by Maggie Musclow, one of the organizers of the UPEI Student Union’s Buddy Program. The Buddy Program provides individualized assistance and a smooth transition for new international students here at UPEI.  Here’s why Maggie chose Leann’s photo as the winner:

I like the one with the monster hats because of the obvious closeness of the two. Not only are they close in proximity but they are close enough to each other that they can be ridiculous around each other and be totally comfortable about it. For me that is what a true pal is, some one who you can be yourself around and not care what anyone else thinks about you.

Thanks to Maggie for being our celebrity guest judge this week, and thanks to everyone who submitted a photo of them and their pal. Leann and her pal are taking home matching hoodies from the UPEI Bookstore!

And this week’s #upeiphoto contest subject is…

…NEW PALS!

School’s been in for almost a month now, and you’ve been going to class and studying and all that, you’ve also been having a lot of fun and making some new friends. We want to see you and your new pal (singular)! Maybe he or she is your roommate, study-group member, or crokinole partner. Wherever you met or however you spend you time palling around, we want to see you both.

Now listen: we’re not going to be judging these photos on how good you look together. Be creative! Be clever! The photo with the most pizazz (as selected by our celebrity judge) will find you AND your new pal taking home matching UPEI hoodies from the UPEI Bookstore.

Only one entry per pal-pair. Don’t forget to tag it with #upeiphoto. Be safe and have fun!
